| Description | The civil war that toppled the Federation. |
The Terran Civil war started on March 29th 3370 GST During the already active First Kanukai War when a series of attacks were made against Federation Navy shipyards by the Resistance of Prime. The Confederation, and the Omegian Syndicates assisted the resistance for various reasons.
Initial Revolts
Initial protests and revolts took place in mid 3370 GST when a anonymous Intelligence agent leaked footage of Federation forces participating in the act of [REDACTED] against the Kanukai pupulation. Which later in 3370 was stated as the reason for several attacks on military shipyards.
Terror attacks
Shortly after these attacks a video of five individuals surfaced on CommNet[1]. The following had been identified by Federation Intelligence.
- A Kanukai male, approximately 22 Years old. Identified as Jack Light
- A Human Female, 42 years of age. Identified as Autumn Macneal
- A Kanukai male, approximately 16 years of age. Identifies as [REDACTED]
The other 2 were never identified. Following this is the transcript of the video.
[NOTE: Voice changing technology has been used, speakers can't be identified.] People of the Federation, You have been lied to by your establishment. Your so called "great" military has been killing innocent civilians. Not just the men, but the women and children, too. Not to mention all the [REDACTED]. Today we have attacked 17 of your Shipyards we believe had a hand in making these atrocities happen. Which follows the footage we one of us leaked to the media, showing these same crimes happen on worlds, occupied by your Federation. We are the Resistance of Prime. We do not forget, we do not forgive. Expect us. We will stand up to all forms of corruption and authoritarianism in our galaxy.
The Federation was able to contain most of the fallout, but it did convince some skeptics to start looking for the RoP[2]. The Federation’s heavy-handed censorship and propaganda made the public skeptical, allowing the leaked footage to spread rapidly. These attacks on military infrastructure kept continuing. causing fear in the Federation's Populus. The Federation marked the resistance as a terror organisation in the same year. To escape the constant manhunts they decided to build their main base within the Purple Glade Nebula, Which only has one safe entry point.
The battle of Kanukai IV
On September 9th 3374 a Major battle took place that changed the war forever. Grand Admiral Light was seen on the battleline in orbit of Kanukai IV, which was blockaded by the Federation's 22nd Fleet. The Fleet was operated at the time by Boris van Dijk who refused to fire lethal munitions at Kanukai ships with civilian crews. The Kanukai defensive was on it's last legs in the system as most of their resources were drained. Grand Admiral Dwane Light made the decision to fire the main weapon of his Disruptor Class TFAF Retribution. Causing the complete destruction of Kanukai IV. This is historically known as the Trinity Incident. In the aftermath of the battle, all remaining 22nd fleet and KDF forces evacuated remaining civilian ships to the purple glade.
The resistance helped all victims of the incident, no matter what race they were when the remaining forces arrived there. Boris van Dijk decided to join the resistance at this time, All of the remaining 22nd fleet personnel joined their commander. A few days later, Boris reconnected with his old friend Jack Light, who defected earlier after seeing what the Federation did to his people while he was a Intelligence agent.
Post Trinity Incident
Jack helped the resistance leak camera and sensor footage of the battle of Kanukai IV. Which made a lot of traction on the net. After 24 hours, 49 of the 90 core planets had at least 60% of their population rioting. The amount of resistance members rose exponentially. The Terran Federation tried sweeping the accusations under the rug, citing that the Resistance was just spreadding propaganda. That story broke apart when merchant vessels bound to Kanukai IV returned and told what they saw.
About 100 fleets of the 250 total defected the Federation and started attacking territory from within, communicating with the resistance when possible. This all cumulated in a last final stand over Genesis Prime. Even the normally hostile Omegian Syndicates offered to sell weapons to the resistance, which was accepted at the time.
Battle of Genesis Prime
On January 9th 3375. Federation Navy personnel spotted a resistance armada of 192.000 starships closing in to the planets range. Federation Navy officers believed they would break up resistance lines until the TFAF Retribution, with Dwane Light on board jumped away without warning. With the leader of the Federation Military leader gone, order started breaking down and several fleets were forced to surrender.
On January 12th, the Resistance took full control of the Federation Capital. Resistance officials including Jack Light, Boris van Dijk, Autumn MacNeal and several others signed the Charter of the Commonwealth, declaring themselves a new state. The active war with the was Kanukai quickly ended by Terran Commonwealth officials, signing a peace treaty on October 12th 3375. Ending the constant conflict.
